Free Crochet Sun Hat Napkin Rings & Tea Cups Pattern©

Free Crochet Sun Hat Napkin Rings & Tea Cups Pattern©
By Connie Hughes Designs©

Here's one of my 1st Free Patterns.
I was emptying my dish washer a while back and as I was putting my plates away...
When I thought of making some place mats & napkin rings!
I made these little tea cups...
But my favorite are these little hats!
The place mats are one row of single crochet and one row of double crochet,
then I did a bobble stitch trim.
These little cups & hats are so easy to make...and they really fit with the plates
It's been hard to find napkin rings
that look right with this set...
Now I can hardly wait to use them!
Free Crochet Sun Hat Napkin Rings & Tea Cups Pattern©
The little hats would be perfect for a ladies tea or the Red Hat Society, I made a sample in red.
Materials I used:

I used these colors because they fit my décor.

Happy Mother's Day & Poem: My Mothers Love©

In Memory of my beautiful Mother on
Mother's Day!
My 1 of 3 sisters on the left, my Mom and me
on the right...at Knott's Berry Farm!
(we were the babies)

And Happy Mother's Day to all
the wonderful Mom's out there!

My Mother’s Love©

There is a grave on the side of a hill
It’s so quiet here even the air is still
But a warm soft rain begins to fall
Its been so long that even memories
Are hard to recall
I kneel down on the warm wet grass
Suddenly moments of my life come
Rushing at me so fast
I brush cob webs from the stone that
Bares your name
We are, you and I one in the same
Thank you for this life
Though at times it’s hard to bare
How much it would of helped
If only you could of been there
When I lost you it was like
A long walk in a cold and dark dawn
You want to stop but you keep
Moving on
I had never seen death in any bodies eyes before
How badly it hurts, right down to the core
You understand what the word final means
And all the petty worries, how silly they seem
I know you know that my heart is broken
Because between a mother and daughter
There is a language, though no words are ever spoken
Thank you for the gentle hands that cared for me
So much now I understand, with a woman’s eyes I see
You gave me life with all it’s twist and turns
You taught me lessons I’m sure you thought I’d never learn
You weren’t a perfect person and either am I
But because of your love
You make me want to try.

'Anchors Aweigh' Pillows©

'Anchors Aweigh' Pillows©
I have enjoyed making these cute
little pillows so much...
and here in the Pacific Northwest it
has been so pretty outside lately!

 It's 80 degrees outside today...
so it really feels like summer
has come early and that just
doesn't happen here...we have
had snow in April & May...so this is
a wonderful treat!
And nothing says summer like
 a sailboat
and a little sand crab!
This little Anchor pillow is one
of my favorites!
I have been crocheting now everyday
so now I am going on a ride on
my husbands motorcycle!
Hooray!!

play in the warm summer sand!
These are happy little pillows

Free Daisy Pillow Pattern©

Free Daisy Pillow Pattern©
By Connie Hughes Designs©
This is one of the summer porch pillows I made.
Materials needed to make pillow
1 sm. roll of Red Heart Bright Yellow
1 sm. roll of Red Heart White
G Hook
Fiber Fill
Abbreviations used in this pattern
Ch-Chain
wk-work
hdc-half double crochet
sl-slip
st-stitch
sts-stitches
blo-back loops only
With Bright Yellow (Make 2)
Ch 4, join to (the first ch st you made) with a sl st
Row1
Ch 3, wk 11hdc into the ring, join with a sl st
Row 2
Ch 2, wk 2 hdc in each st around, join with a sl st
Row3
Ch 2, wk 1 hdc in the first st, wk 2 hdc in the next st, all the way around, join with a sl st
Row 4
Ch 2, 1 hdc in the next 2 sts. 2 hdc in the next, repeat all the way around, join with a sl st
Row 5
1 hdc in the next 3 sts, 2 hdc in the next, repeat all the way around
join with a sl st
Row 6
Ch 2, 1 hdc in the next 4 sts, 2 hdc in the next repeat all the way around, join with a sl st, fasten off here if you've already done row 7 on the other circle.
Do row 7 to only 1 circle

Row 7
Ch 2, wk 1 hdc in blo all the way around, join with a sl st
Working in the back loops creates a line and it helps when sewing the petals on...it gives you something to follow and keeps the petals nice and straight.
Row 8
Ch 2, 1 hdc in each st around, repeat row 8, 4 more times, then turn both pieces inside out and crochet them together, leaving a space big enough for you to stuff. Be careful not to over stuff...you don't want to much of the stuffing to show through.
You don't have to crochet 2 pieces together...you can slowly begin to decrease your stitches and close it up that way.
I did it with two circles because it's easier for beginners.
To make the petals (make 16 petals)
With white yarn
Ch 3
Row 1
1 sc in the 2 ch spaces, ch 1 & turn-2 sts
Row 2
Ch 1, wk 2 sc in each st, ch 1 , turn-4 sts
Row 3
Sc in each sc st, ch 1 & turn-4 sts
Row 4
Sc 2 sts in the 1st st, 1 sc in the next 2, 2 sc in the last st, ch 1 & turn-6 sts
Row 5
Wk 1 sc in each sc st, Ch 1 & turn-6 sts
Row 6
Sc 2 sts in the 1st st, 1 sc in the next 4 sts, 2 sc in the last st, ch 1 & turn-8 sts
Row 7
1 sc in each st, ch 1 & turn-8 sts
Row 8
Wk 2 sc in the 1 st st, 1 sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in the last st, ch 1 & turn-10 sts
Row 9

1 sc in each st, ch 1 & turn-10 sts
Repeat row 9, 5 more times, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Or you can use thread...when sewing the back petals on place them kind of in the middle of the two front petals, so they will be seen.
