The Sea©

The tide sweeps across the shore
Taking the past with it forever more
It turns and spins and waits for the sun
And when they meet the day is done
What a sight it is to behold
Beautiful colors of orange, red and gold
A sailor’s sails flapping in the wind
The sea is his solitude his only friend
Castles rise up and can leave with a gale
So many secrets of pirates and treasures, oh it can weave quite a tale
Monsters lurking in the deep, quietly waiting while you sleep
A writer ponders and children play
Leaving tiny foot prints along the way
Seagulls run across the cold wet sand
Friend to both sky and land
Without warning a calming sea can rise with such an angry roar
Leaving nothing the way it was before
Ships are battered and the souls of men are lost
Into the angry seas their souls are tossed
Forever they become a part of the sea
And like the wind their souls are forever free.
Taking the past with it forever more
It turns and spins and waits for the sun
And when they meet the day is done
What a sight it is to behold
Beautiful colors of orange, red and gold
A sailor’s sails flapping in the wind
The sea is his solitude his only friend
Castles rise up and can leave with a gale
So many secrets of pirates and treasures, oh it can weave quite a tale
Monsters lurking in the deep, quietly waiting while you sleep
A writer ponders and children play
Leaving tiny foot prints along the way
Seagulls run across the cold wet sand
Friend to both sky and land
Without warning a calming sea can rise with such an angry roar
Leaving nothing the way it was before
Ships are battered and the souls of men are lost
Into the angry seas their souls are tossed
Forever they become a part of the sea
And like the wind their souls are forever free.
