Both hats are child sizes and are easy to make!
Red Heart Yarns Used:
Spring Green
Bright Pink
White

Other Materials:
2 Frog Shaped Buttons 20mm
(I got my buttons at Joann’s Craft Store)
Needle & Matching Threads
Tapestry Needle
 Safety Eyes 15mm (I used Green)
(I got mine from Suncatcher Craft Eyes)
Stitch Marker
Poly-Fill

Hooks Used:
F, J

Abbreviations Used:
st-stitch
sts-stitches
ch-chain
hdc-half double crochet
sc-single crochet
dec-decrease
sk-skip
sl st-slip stitch
wk-work
BLO-back loops only
FLO-Front Loops only
FO-fasten off
To make the Frog hat:
With Spring Green and a J Hook 6.0mm
I used a st marker, I did not join my rows, to me it just looks nicer.
Ch3
Row 1. Wk 9hdc in the 3rd st from the hook-9sts.
Row 2. 2hdc in each st-18sts.
Row 3. 1hdc, 2hdc in each st-27sts.
Row 4. 1hdc in 2sts, 2hdc in the next st-36sts.
Row 5. 1hdc in 3sts, 2hdc in the next st-45sts.
Row 6. 1hdc in 4sts, 2hdc in the next st-54sts.
Rows 7-17. 1hdc in each st, do not FO yet-54sts.
To make the ear flaps: J Hook
Row 18. 1sc in 12sts, ch1 & turn.
Row 19. dec1, 1sc in 8sts, dec1, ch1& turn.
Row 20. 1sc in 10sts.
Row 21. dec1, 1sc in 6sts, dec1, ch1 & turn.
Row 22. 1sc in 8sts.
Row 23. Dec1, 1sc in 4sts, dec1, ch1 & turn.
Row 24. 1sc in 6sts, ch1 & turn.
Row 25. dec1, 1sc in 2sts, dec1, ch1 & turn.
Row 26. 1sc in 4sts, ch1 & turn.
Row 27. dec1, dec1, ch1 & turn.
Row 28. dec1 and FO.
To make the 2nd ear flap:
Leave about 20sts in the front part of the hat, attach yarn.
Repeat rows 18-28 and FO.
With Bright Pink Yarn
Wk 1sc in each st around the entire hat including both ear flaps and FO. 
To make the frog eyes: make 2 with White Yarn and F Hook


Ch2
Row 1. Wk 6sc in the 2nd st from the hook.
Row 2. 2sc in each st-12sts.
Row 3. 1sc, 2sc in the next st-18sts.
Row 3. 1sc in 2sts, 2sc in the next st-24sts.
Row 4. 1sc in 3, 2sc in the next st-30sts.

Change to Spring Green Yarn
Row 5. 1sc in the BLO in each st.
Row 6. 1sc in each st around.
Row 7. 1sc in 3, dec1, around.
Row 8. 1sc in 2, dec1, around.
 
Attach safety eyes to the white eye piece.
Row 9. 1sc in 1, dec1 around.
Stuff eyes lightly
Dec sts until closed and FO.
 
Attach the Spring Green Yarn:
Evenly wk 1sc in the FLO in 12sts and FO.
Sew the eyes on top of the hat.
To make the cheeks: make 2 with Bright Pink Yarn and F Hook
Ch2

Row 1. Wk 6sc in the 2nd st from the hook.

Row 2. 2sc in each st-12sts.
Row 3. 1sc, 2sc in the next st, FO-18sts.




To make the Newsboy style Hat: J Hook
Repeat rows 1-17, adding an extra row if needed.
Turn the hat right side out and make the brim:
Row 1. In the FLO wk 1sc in 2sts, *1hdc in 1st, 2hdc in the next st* repeat in the next 16sts, 1sc in 2sts, ch1 & turn.
Row 2. dec1, 1hdc in 32sts 1, dec1, ch1 & turn.
Rows 3-4. Repeat row 2 and FO.
Attach Bright Pink Yarn:
Wk 1sc around entire hat and FO.
To make the band above the brim: J Hook
Ch26
Row 1. 1sc in each st, ch2 & turn.
Button size of 20mm (You do not have to make button holes, you can just crochet
the band straight across).
Row 2. Sk 2sts wk 1sc in the 3rd st, 1sc in 21sts, ch2 sk 2sts wk 1sc in the last st, ch1 & turn.
Row 3. Wk 1sc in each st across and FO.
Sew buttons in place just above the brim.
