It's time to party with "Lalaloopsy"!!
I just made the figurine so if you are going to be making
a cake and want to cover it with fondant get extra.
To make the skin color I used small amounts of copper icing...and
worked the color in kind of like pulling salt water taffy. One of
the most important thing to do when working with fondant is
to keep your hands clean...I use gloves to work in my colors.
When making the skin color...make sure you make enough to
make the head, arms and legs...because it's very
hard to make the exact color twice.
Make the hair the same way you did the skin...only roll it out
and place it on top of the head...I trimmed mine
as I worked it around.
When making the eyes you will want to add a lot of
black icing...because if you don't you will have
grey eyes instead of black.
To make the hair I just made several long rolls and
folded them in half...secure the curls with a small
paint brush and a few dabs of water.
Her little crown is just 3 little rolls joined together.
Roll out the fondant and apply it to
the waist area...smooth it out a little.
Make little polka dots and make a small indent to
place the arms in.
To make the top of the sleeves...
roll up a small ball, cut it in half.
Make small dots in the front of the dress...I used
a wooden skewer that I trimmed to fit inside
the sitting body, leaving just enough to
slide the head onto.
I made the long skinny legs the same way
I made the hair strands...I made the shoes
by making little brick shapes and pushing the
legs through, then made a small cuff.
I made the eye lashes by dipping my paint
brush into the black icing...practice doing this
on a piece of scrap fondant first.
I hope this has been helpful but more than anything I hope it
inspires you to try something new...who knows
you might be great at it but you'll never know
if you don't try...I don't have any training in this...I got
the bug for this when I watched TLC's Cake Challenge Contest...
I just had the urge to get my hands on some of this stuff
