Free Picture Tutorial Granny Triangle Scarf Pattern©

Here's My Free Picture Tutorial
on how to make this stylish
"Granny Triangle Scarf"
By Connie Hughes Designs©
It's another super easy pattern and this is a lot of fun to make...I had
so much fun making this one that I made it in light grey and red!
The instructions to join the scarf and make the fringe is below the picture tutorial.

Yarn & Hook size used:
1 Skein 252 yds. of I Love This Yarn in Denims (found at Hobby Lobby)
J 6.0mm Hook

I only used this Neon Green Yarn in the tutorial because it's easier to see!
How to make this Granny Triangle Scarf:

Ch4
Join with a slst to make a ring
Ch3
Wk 3dc inside the ring
Ch1

Wk 3dc inside the same ring

Ch3 & turn

Wk 3dc in the st where the arrow is pointing/like in photo below

 Ch1

Wk 3dc in the next ch1 space

Ch1
Wk 3dc in the same st
Ch1
Wk 4dc in the top of the ch3
In this photo you can see the triangle starting to take shape
Ch3 & turn
Wk 3dc in the first st
Ch1
Wk 3dc in the ch1 space, ch1
Wk 3dc in the next ch1 space, ch1, wk 3dc in the same space and ch1
Wk 3dc in the next ch1 space, ch1
Wk 4dc in the ch3, ch3 & turn
Just continue working you're stitches just like this until it's the size you want...for my blue smaller scarf at the top of the post I did 18 rows...how to join the 2 ends together:
Put the 2 ends together, wk 1sc through the BLO in one end, wk 1sc in the FLO in the other end do that in 4sts and FO.
this will make a nice flat seam.
To make the Fringe:
Cut out strands about 14" in length, put 3 strands in each ch1 space all along the outer edge of scarf by:
Insert you're hook
Pull the yarn strands through the ch1 space
Pull it through till you have loops
Use you're fingers to pull the long strands through the loops
Pull the strands tightly around the ch1 space
I hope this picture tutorial has been helpful to you...happy crocheting!

Here's my little pup, well she's not so little anymore she's 16lbs. now...but
just as adorable as ever!

Free Cowl Scarf Crochet Pattern©

"Free Red Cowl Scarf Crochet Pattern©"
By Connie Hughes Designs©
Here's my free cowl scarf pattern that I made for a Christmas present...
it's quite pretty and super easy to make...You'll love how it feels and you'll really love how simple it is...it has a very elegant look to it...I made this scarf for my mother in law who just looks great in red...I hadn't been posting anything on my blog for awhile but that doesn't mean I haven't been working.  In fact I was so busy this Christmas making hats and scarves for family & friends...that is why I hadn't posted for awhile. But the holidays are over and it's time to get back to it...The yarn I used to make this scarf is from Hobby Lobby called I Love This Yarn it's very soft and has a nice bulk to it without being to bulky...it's a perfect yarn for hats and scarves.

I used about 4 Skeins of I Love This Yarn in Red (found at Hobby Lobby)
Yarn Weight: 4 - Worsted
Skein Yardage: 355 Yards
1 2" Decorative Button
J 6.0mm Hook

To make the Cowl: with I Love This Yarn in Red & J Hook
Be sure to count you're sts as you work
Ch74, join & ch4
Row 1. Sk the 1st 4 ch's, wk 1trc in the 5th ch from the hook, 1trc in each ch across, (like in the photo below) join & ch4.

Row 2. (When doing the post sts you want to sk the first st, but always wk one in the last st of the row) wk 1FPtrc in the 1st st, 1BPtrc in the next st, repeat all the way around (like in the photo's below),  join & ch4.

Row 3. 1trc all the way around, join & ch4.
Repeat rows 2-3 until your scarf is the desired width. It really is simple but it doesn't look it, it really looks elegant.
I made my cowl quite wide it was about 14" in width. I wanted it to also be worn on top of the head if desired.

To make the Cuff with the button: with Red Yarn & J Hook
Ch13
Row 1. wk 1dc in the 4th st from the hook, 1dc in the next 9, ch3 & turn.
Row 2. wk 1FPdc in the 1st st, 1BPdc in the next st, repeat all the way across, ch3 & turn.
-Repeat rows 1-2 until piece measures 7 to 71/2" in length, ch1 & turn.
-Wk 1sc in 10sts, ch1 & turn.
-wk 1sc in 3, ch4, sk 4sts, 1sc in 3, ch1 & turn.
-wk 1sc in 3, wk 4sc in ch4 space. 1sc in 3, ch1 & turn.
-dec1sc, 1sc in 6sts, dec1sc, ch1 & turn.
-dec1sc, 1sc in 4. dec1sc, ch1 & turn.
-dec1sc, 1sc in 2, dec1sc and FO.
Sew the button to the other end, wrap the piece around the scarf and secure with the button.

Spiced Walnut Recipe @ Connie's Spot© Great For Christmas Gifting!!

Spiced Walnut Recipe @ Connie's Spot©
Great For Christmas Gifting!!
Every year I make some goodies for my husband to give out to his accounts...
A few years ago I found a wonderful recipe...
I'm not sure where I got it, it has been so long now
and I have the recipe memorized...
These are not hard to make
and there easy to store and are really perfect for
gift giving or keeping they're so Yummy!

   "Spiced Walnuts"
I find great deals at our local WalMart on spices!
Here's what you need:
1 egg white
1 tablespoon water
2 cups walnuts
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice
Preheat oven to 225 F.
Line a large shallow baking pan with foil.
In a bowl, combine egg white and water, beat until foamy.
Add walnuts and toss to coat. Pour mixture into a
strainer and let drain for 2 to 3 minutes.
Combine sugar, cinnamon and allspice in a
plastic or paper bag, shake to mix. Add
the walnuts and shake vigorously to coat
the nuts. Spread the nuts in one layer
on the baking pan.

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
I used two timers...one I set for 1 hour
and the one for each 15 minutes...
Remove from oven and let cool stirring
occasionally and breaking the nuts apart
if they are stuck together.
Don't worry if they stick to the foil (they will)
it's easy to peel them off.
Store in a sealed container.
Makes 2 Cups

Little packages ready for Santa's delivery!!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!!
