 I Remember

I stand here and watch the clouds roll by
I want to forget, but I can’t no matter how hard I try
The years like liquid spill out before me
I want to escape but there’s nowhere to flee
I see you in the summer playing in the sun
I see your beautiful smile that said, you were having fun
I remember those sweet days, when we didn’t have a care
When you danced and twirled and put flowers in your hair
I remember the times we spent laughing and playing that silly game called I spy
Now those sweet memories make me cry
I remember your little hands and how they felt in mine
Now only memories lost somewhere in time
I remember Christmas mornings and squeals of pure delight
I remember bed time stories and tucking you in at night
I remember the owies, you know the one's  I use to kiss
Now if I could only close my eyes and make one wish
I would go back and savior the moments I had with you
In the grand scheme of things they now seem too few
But the years are moving swiftly so when my life is done
I hope you’ll remember me standing in the sun.
