Hallows Eve Poem© By Connie Hughes

Hallows Eve Poem©
Tonight the ghost dance down alley ways
Like vampires they dread the day
Carved pumpkins line the walk
Seem so real, like they can almost talk
We retrace the steps of so long ago
Candles flicker with a ghostly glow
Dark cobble streets where Ripper roamed
Not too far is the place Edgar called the Raven home
A phantom wearing rusty chains that rattle and creak
Searching from house to house, looking for treats
Lollipops’ dripping in blood
Ghostly ghouls trampling through the mud
A headless horseman ”screamed Ichabod Crane"
Or was he just a man who was going insane
Skeletons rattle their weary bones
Wandering through the streets looking for home
Shadows darting from wall to wall
With monsters nearly twenty feet tall
And eerie fog lies low upon the earth
Ashes from ashes rising up from the dirt
Yes, the darkness changes what we believe
And the mind plays tricks on Hallows Eve.
