Crochet Dog Sweater Pattern© and it's Free!

 Free Crochet Dog Sweater Pattern©
By Connie Hughes Designs©

My puppy is very tiny in fact we thought she was 3.5lbs.
But when we took her to the vets and they weighed her
we found out she only weighs 2.6lbs!!
Here's my 1st puppy sweater...
this pattern is very easy and simple to make...
I made the sweater so that there is only one leg opening...
because my puppy had never worn a sweater before...
this just made taking it on and off easier for her and for me...
she adapted quite well...if you have a short haired dog like mine...
They Will and Do Get Cold!
Gracie wore her sweater all day yesterday when we were out and about and
she didn't seem to mind it at all... I know it kept her warm...she
was ready to get out of it once we got home though.

I used a tape measure to measure my puppy. This sweater won't fit all puppies because mine is so small. But you can make one for yours by measuring like I did.
My puppy's measurements are:
7" around the neck
91/2" around the body
From the lower neck to about 3" from the tail is 6
I made my sweater slightly bigger than her exact measurements because I didn't want her to get scared by having something on to tight. If your dog is use to sweaters then make it closer to their actual measurements.

To make the Puppy Sweater: with  Red Heart Gumdrop in Cherry & F Hook
Ch7
Row 1. 1sc in 6sts, ch1 & turn.
Row 2. 1sc in the BLO in 6sts, ch1 & turn.
Rows 3-40. repeat row 2
Join the 2 ends together and wk 1slst across in 6sts, ch1.
Row 42. 1sc in 42sts, you can join or use a stitch marker. I used a stitch marker because I do not like the line you can get when joining.
The ch18 below will make the leg opening.
Row 43. ch18, skip 18sts, 1sc in 24sts.
Row 44. wk 1hdc in each st (including ch18)-42sts.
Row 45. 1hdc in 42sts
Repeat row 45 until the body of the sweater reaches about 2 or 3inches from the tail.

On Saturday night we gave Gracie a bath because she was going to Grandma's
house on Sunday and this poor little girl had a complete melt down...
she curled up in a ball and then fell asleep like I've never seen her!

ch 2, wk 2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, join

Row 4
ch 2, wk 1 hdc in the same st as ch 2, 2 hdc in the next st

Row 5

ch 2, wk 1 hdc in the next 2 sts, 2 hdc in the next, repeat & join

(so it's 1hdc in the next 3 sts, 2 hdc together in the next st)

The Handle

Row 1
ch 69, wk 1 hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across, ch 2 & turn
wk 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each st across
Fasten off

With matching thread sew the two sides together like a tube. Using thread makes it look better then using the yarn. I learned the hard way.

The Shovel (the long part)

Row 1
ch 2, wk 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, do not join

Row 2

wk 2 sc in each st around, do not join

Row 3

wk 1 sc in each st around, and continue that until your piece is about 3 inches long (I did about 12 rows)
when it's as tall as you want it, sc dec all the way around until closed.

For the Round Handle part

Row 1
ch 29, wk 1 sc in each st across

Rows 2 & 4
repeat row 1 and fasten off.

Sew this piece together like you did for the bucket handle.
Then sew the two ends together joining them like in picture 1.

Stuff your bucket with fiberfill and attach the sand piece to the top of the bucket. As shown in picture 2. Be careful when sewing the two pieces together, try not to pull the thread to tightly or your bucket will bunch up.

Sew the top handle part of the shovel to the 3 inch tube in picture 3 and then attach that to the top of the sand part as shown in the picture. To help my bucket handle stand up I placed the shovel close to the handle to help support it and sewed them together (like in picture 4).

Free Crochet Sun Hat Napkin Rings & Tea Cups Pattern©
By Connie Hughes Designs©
For all my new followers and viewers if you missed it...
This is one of my 1st Free Patterns from 3 years ago!
Connie
I was emptying my dish washer a while back and as I was putting my plates away...
When I thought of making some place mats & napkin rings to match!

I made these little tea cups...

But my favorite are these little hats!
The place mats are one row of single crochet and one row of double crochet,
then I did a bobble stitch trim.
These little cups & hats are so easy to make...and they really fit with the plates
It's been hard to find napkin rings
that look right with this set...
Now I can hardly wait to use them!

Free Crochet Sun Hat Napkin Rings & Tea Cups Pattern©
The little hats would be perfect for a ladies tea or the Red Hat Society,
I made a sample in red.
Materials I used:
Red Heart Yarn
I used these colors because they fit my décor.
Bright Yellow
Spring Green
Blue
Orange
Buff or Tan

Hooks Used:
D,G & H

Needle & Matching Threads
